I want Chicken Mom!

OK so I found this new Blog and LOVE it! It's about cooking with your slow cooker. {{LOVE}}
Today I put a whole chicken in the slow cooker! Here's the recipe
I can't wait to see how it comes out! I hope it's yummy.
Oh, and great news! Reise got his first deer EVER! I'm so proud of him! It's a good size Doe. We're going to cut it up 2mrw. I can't wait for the jerky! YUM!
Today is cold...I can't get the fire going, so I got the heated blanket out. Cozy ;)
I've been asked to make a honey glazed baked ham for our family dinner, so I better go get out the ham(Miss Piggy) and surf the web for a good recipe.
Then gonna try to finish Sara's leg warmers that I have had on the needles for way too long.
Bye now!

"An object in the house"

We have been sick on and off for the past almost 3 weeks, and I feel like just an object in the house like one of the girl's game cards says. I got Rose's cable hat and mitts done. I still have to finish my fall colors socks, but as I sit here I want to start a new project. I better not though...we'll see how strong I can be.
We're having family dinner at Robin's tonight, and the girls are geeked about getting to play with all the kids mostly Mason though. They don't get to play with him much since school started. I made my pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting. Yum! Half has tiny chocolate bits in them, super yum! I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of them. ;)

Sailing on Muskegon Lake

We went sailing with friends on Friday, that was SO much fun! I didn't like at first how the boat tips really far over to the side, but I kinda got used to it. Thankfully my feet could reach the other side so I could hold myself up! Reise and Luke really loved it. Reise was up in the very front of the boat for awhile until he got splashed! It was nice and I would go out again!

Well, that's it for now, more later! :-D

Summer vaca!

Our SUPER fun Upper vaca
Can you tell it was hot out? Reise's face tells it all ;)

This is our "Redneck" campsite.

We had to ride on the grated part I wasn't the only one freaked out.
"Stop moving!" "I gotta get a picture!"
:-D
It really was a lot of fun. (more pictures to come later) They were calling for rain the whole time we were up there, but it always missed us. thank goodness! I can't wait to go on our next bike trip.

The Old Dragoo House, now Bogen's

This letter was sent with pictures(posted below) by Barbara Deitz to the person that we bought the house from.

Reise made this in Middle School. I love it!

These pictures of the house were taken in 1918, and the possed portrait was in the early 1900's.

The people in the portrait are Lawrence(the son of Tucker), his wife Gertrude, and childern Pauline, Bryan, and Roy(Barbara's father).

This is Tucker Steele Dragoo, his wife Sarah, and daughter Myrtle.

Here is the old wall paper in the kitchen I was telling you about.

It's really neat!

Reise's best friend Luke had a great idea to use old barn wood for the one kitchen wall. I really like it. Luke and Reise still have some work to do on it.

We're going to go to estate sales and such to find old things to hang on the wall.

Here's the stairs to the "Michigan Basment".

Here's more old wall paper. This was where the origanal stairway to the 2nd floor was.

It looks like it was very pretty back then.

Here's our dirty basment. It's dry though!

Here you can see where they opened the wall to update the ducts and the wires.

(can you see the tree root?)

Here is the Laundry room/ Office/mud room. Nice and big.

We've got some work to do out here too.

This is where the kitchen floor starts. Yuck!

Again, Yuck! We have already bought the new wood flooring. It's gonna go really nice with the barn wood!

This is the west side of our living room. I love the color!

This is the east side of the living room. Right where the tv is used to be a bedroom and the stairs used to go right through it.

Here's the girls favorite part of the house, the stairway. Up at the top there is a nice window and a very nice double fan.

Here is the hallway to the girl's rooms and the attic. You can see the trim needs to be put up around the doors.

The pink room(messy)

The purple room(super messy!)

The door to our room. See the "door knob"? LOL

Here it is!

Yup, that's it.......but it works for now. ; -D

I couldn't get a good picture of the bathroom.

So what do you think of our new house?

All the old pictures and the information about them was by Barbara Deitz. She is the great granddaughter of Tucker Steele Dragoo.

Thank you to Barbara for sharing some of her great family history.
