Sweet Summer Time Fun

Now This is my idea of summer time! Sitting out in the sun with a drink, sunglasses, and my knitting.

I really loved walking around town looking at all the bikes, but these two take the cake. That's the way to get two seasons out of these. Very smart ; )

I took this from a tower in the middle of the road. I think this was the East side view. This wasn't even 25% of the bikes that were in Muskegon Bike Time!

My BIL ran his bike on the Dyno. It was neat to see.

Remember the yarn I dyed myself? I thought I'd use some of it. This sock only used half of a skein! I am working on the other sock right now, and half way done with it.
I only get to work on this when I am out of the house. When I am home I am working on a bag. This bag has been giving me trouble! I had to redo the outer part twice. Grrrrr! Oh well, I just hope it is well loved when it is done.
I also got another lil package done and ready to go in the mail. I got to the post office only to find it closed, and it was only 9am!! I was sooooo mad! I hope to get it out tomorrow.
I will have to post again as soon as I get my latest pix loaded. We took our 1955 Dodge Pickup through it's first car show! It was sooo great! Well gotta go for now, more to come later.

Summer Time Fun!

Wow! It sure has been a busy and fun so far! This is sweetie showing off his new goggles! In the background you will see my two lil swimmers!

If you have seen my FB then this is the purse I was talking about. No, it's not a swap bag. This was just for fun. I made it out of some left over fabric from a quilt. Still working on the quilt, I have most of the blocks cut, just need to sew everything up. I have a lot of time left for that though. I'm not sure I like how this bag turned out, but I learned a lot from it!

And THIS. I was so happy to open this! The card itself is so neat. I just love the color combo of the yarn. I am still looking for the perfect pattern for this super yummy yarn!
Just the other week I got to hang with my lil bro and sis. This is me and sis tanning our legs at the beach. That's lake Mi in the background. The water was too chilly(60) that day to go swimming. You could walk and let the water lap at your toes though.
This was so cool to see. The boat was called the Baby Duck(I think). They came right up next to us and picked up more friends. BTW- that's the White Lake channel in the background.
Here's bro and sis getting the hang of the 2seater bike. It took awhile, but they got it. Good thing no one got a picture of me ridding on it later...not good! LOL
Here we all are ridding on the Hart Montague Bike Trail. In this here, we're going under the road. Rose(right in front of me) slowed way down to get a good look. She really had to pedal her butt off to keep up with everyone. LOL
And on the last day of their visit we went to the Silver Lake Dunes. We had a great time. Bro ended up not feeling well so we called it a day, but not before going up test hill 4 times. We went up backwards too. We didn't make it all the way the first run, but the next 3 we did! The sand was very, what we call, sugary, or not packed. Here we were letting the Dune buggy(old dodge ram charger) cool down on top of Test hill. Too bad I didn't get a pic of the others beside us.

Now I am about to get ready to take the girls to the park, and then to their fav old fashioned soda shop. Then tonight is what I am the most giddy for...I am going to FINALLY go see the HBP!! I'm happy that I get some time out with adults, no kids, but I am soo geeked about seeing the movie!! I just can't wait!!
Well, that's all for now. Hope you liked my picture show! ; )

Spring Kitchen Towels

OK so this is the first time I have ever put a pattern up on my blog. If I left anything out, or messed something up, please feel free to comment and let me know. This should be fun!

What you will need-
  • 1 ball of Peaches & Cream Ombres(the orange and lime colors are great)
  • Needle size US 8/5.0mm
  • a set of stitch markers
  • darning needle

For the large towel- cast on 60 st.
Row1- K1, P1
Row2-9-knit the purl st and purl the knit st(seed st pattern)
Row11- seed st 10st, PM, knit 20, PM, Purl 20, PM seed st last 10.
Row12- seed st 10, sm, purl 20, sm, knit 20, sm, seed st last 10.
*Repeat rows 11 and 12 until you have 20 rows in the knit and purl squares.(so in total it should be 30 rows)*
Row30- Now you just do the opposite of the square below for 20 more rows.
Row50- Now just finish off with 10 rows of seed st.
bind off in pattern, then sew in ends.

**For the small towel-
The seed st borders are multiples of 5(so 5 rows at the top and bottom, and 5st on the sides)
For the middle squares they are in multiples of 10(so 10st in each row, and 10 rows to a square)
Super Simple, Right?!

Homemade Pizza

A few friends asked me for this recipe. My SIL and I found this and LOVE it!! I can't remember where we got it from though. Please be sure to read it all the way through BEFORE you start. This is super fun for the kids to do with you!! We like to cut the mounds smaller, like 4 or 5, and then each person can have their own pizza! Oh, and one more lil thing... If you like cheese in the crust, all you have to do is use string cheese! Half the strings then roll it in the sides. Try it, you'll love it! Have Fun! ; )

  • 2 3/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Envelope Active Dry Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 Cup of Warm Water
  • 1 Can Pizza Sauce(left over spaghetti sauce works too)
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Your Favorite Toppings
Pour warm water, yeast, and sugar into small bowl, stir with fork, set aside. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix the dough until it comes together. Add a small handful of flour a bit at a time as needed. Spread flour onto the counter, and dump out the dough. Knead until it doesn't stick to your fingers. Rub a bowl with olive oil. Put dough in and cover securely with plastic wrap. Let it sit in a warm spot for about an hour. Gently punch dough once. Place dough on floured surface. Cut dough into 3 equal pieces. With your palm, roll each piece against the table to form a mound. Cover with a damp towel or plastic, and let rest 5min. Roll out the dough to about the size of a dinner plate and just under 1/4 inch thick. Put on baking sheet. Then with the back of a spoon, spread out about 1/4 Cup of pizza sauce over the inner crust. Then add toppings. Place in a 475 degree oven. Bake until the cheese is melted and gooey, and the crust is nicely browned. About 15 to 18 min.

Summer Time!

Well, what do you think of my hat? I have been working on this one hat for 2 months now...I know I'm bad! I'm not done yet...lol if you can't tell. I guess I just really like this pic, DH likes it too! ; )
I'll have to dig for the pattern if you want it, I've made it so many times I don't need to look at it. ; )

I have been very busy so far this summer, and I only say that because that is not common for us! Most of the time in the summer I have a hard time thinking of things to do....not this summer! We have every weekend full of camping with friends, swimming, going to the movies(HBP!!), going to visit family down at the Indiana line, going to a convention on the other side of the state, and just finding time to chat with my buddies in HSKS camp.

This is only the past 2 days...I still have yet to post pix of our camping trip from the first of this month! LOL

This is today, now the tea is gone and they are running around yelling and chasing the puppy! Poor puppy!

BTW: the tea is Celestial Seasonings "Wild Berry Zinger" they didn't like it, but I did! "Momma likes tea!" They only like chamomile tea, or Mamma's sweet tea.

This is the puppy. Her name is Patches. she's one year old.
This was just yesterday. It was so hot out!
(can you tell my yard was a hay field)

This is "The Girls." I can't believe they stayed still for this pic, and my phone has a really long delay!! XP*
They played out in the water for 3 hours, and wouldn't come in til Dad came home. Now they have pink skin! Now they know to come in when Mom says to...yeah right, who am I kidding!!
